Drafted during the first Viatorian Community Assembly in 2006, then adopted for the sake of experiment Through the 28th General Chapter of the Clerics of Saint Viator, this Charter constitutes the reference document for all its members. It defines the deep identity and fundamental characteristics of this community that gives life to the Viatorian charism, while guiding each Viator in his unique mission in service of the People of God.
These essential characteristics represent the spiritual gift that God bestows upon the community. This unique charism is expressed in two complementary forms within the same family:
This duality offers an exceptional opportunity to fulfill the mission and fraternal communion through a great diversity of profiles: men and women, laity, religious, and priests. The Viatorian Community thus unites Religious and Associates in a harmony inspired by the spirit of Father Querbes, without confusion but in a close union, like the two faces of the same coin, each possessing its own beauty.
The Viatorian Community has the privilege of illustrating, through the complementarity of vocations, the diversity of states of life within the universal Church, acting as a true «model» of it. It is paramount for Viatorians to maintain a keen awareness of this common identity, where each vocation (religious or secular) is fully lived, respected, and encouraged.
The Charter serves as a living memory, constantly reminding members of their identity and the purpose of their union.
